My name is Maia, and I’m from Peru. I’m thrilled to share my story of how I got into Dartmouth College!! I attended San Jose Monterrico High School, where I developed my interests and passions. Coming from a single-parent household, I was used to juggling responsibilities, and I learned how to manage my time well.

My desire to study abroad began when I applied to UWC but got rejected. However, that setback led me to discover "Cometa Camp," a program that helps Peruvian students apply to top U.S. universities. Why Dartmouth?

I was drawn to Dartmouth for its strong sense of community and the way professors and admissions officers always responded to my emails. I was especially impressed by their government program, which I hoped to combine with economics. Plus, Dartmouth’s clubs and organizations, from stand-up comedy to the Investment Club, matched my diverse interests. I loved their emphasis on outdoor activities too—joining the Outing Club and swimming in the rivers of New Hampshire sounded like a perfect balance between academics and adventure.
